Natural Resources Project Experience
Here is a QUICK OVERVIEW OF representative natural resources projects we have supported
Critical Dune Assessment
Prism performed a Critical Dune Assessment for a Lake Michigan property to determine property suitability for construction of a residence. During this assessment, Prism determined that the property was located with a critical dune area. Prism performed a on-site feasibility assessment to identify buildable areas on the property, negotiated with the MDEQ for a special exception permit, and successfully received permit approval on behalf of the client.
High Risk Erosion Assessment
Prism performed a high risk erosion assessment for a property on Lake Michigan. The client was proposing to build a single family residence on the property and was concerned with erosion risk. Prism determined that the property was in a high risk erosion area and located the bluff's edge to determine building setback requirements. Prism designed, permitted, and managed the construction of a shore protection revetment that preserved the shoreline and bluff, allowing the client to facilitate property development.
Endangered Species Assessment
Prism evaluated the presence of endangered species for the route of a proposed watermain extension in Berrien County. Our team of biologists performed a site assessment to determine the presence or absence of potentially-present endangered species.
